Andrew John Sciberras is a rising force in Malta’s stand-up comedy scene, celebrated for his quirky charm, self-deprecating wit, and a comedic style that blends nostalgia with sharp cultural insight. Described as a “nerd-with-a-heart-of-gold,” Sciberras has carved out a unique space among Malta’s new generation of comedians, captivating audiences with his endearing stage presence and clever storytelling.

Sciberras’s comedic persona is a delightful paradox: he often appears like a time-traveler from the 1950s, complete with turn-up jeans and vintage vibes, yet his material is unmistakably modern. His routines are rich with observational humor, drawing on themes like national identity, generational quirks, and the everyday absurdities of Maltese life. His performances are marked by a blend of wit, humor, and self-deprecating sarcasm, making his life stories both relatable and hilarious.

Sciberras has been a standout performer in several high-profile comedy events across Malta. In May 2024, he took the stage at Comedy Kingdom, a major stand-up showcase held at the Junior College Theatre in Msida. Sharing the spotlight with fellow comedians like Daniel Diacono, Ed Vassallo, and headliner James Ryder, the event highlighted the growing popularity of stand-up comedy in Malta.

Beyond stand-up, Sciberras has demonstrated his versatility in the performing arts. He co-directed and performed in Generation Young, a sketch comedy show that received a €3,000 Micro Grant from Arts Council Malta. The show featured comedic sketches, songs, stand-up routines, and pop culture parodies, all crafted from the unique perspectives of young Maltese performers.

Sciberras is not only a performer but also an advocate for the Maltese comedy community. In February 2024, he co-organized and co-hosted the inaugural Malta Chuckle Awards, affectionately known as “The Chuckies.” This event celebrated the achievements of local comedians, with categories like Best Show, Best Joke, Best Newcomer, and the prestigious GOAT of 2024. The awards underscored the rapid growth of Malta’s stand-up scene, which now boasts regular weekly shows and a diverse array of comedic talents.

Sciberras’s talents extend beyond comedy. In 2019, he directed The Garden by Simone Ellul as part of the MADC One-Act Play Festival, showcasing his skills in theatrical direction. This involvement in theater highlights his commitment to the broader performing arts landscape in Malta.

Andrew John Sciberras has expanded his comedic repertoire by starring in the Maltese mockumentary web series Il-Kunsill Lokali, which premiered in September 2024. In this satirical series, he portrays David, one half of a comically inept duo alongside Coleiro, played by Daniel Diacono. Their characters are depicted as the "childish duo of the office," contributing to the show's humorous take on local council operations.
